Udupi, Feb 1, 2014 : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has said that the process of regularising  the services of a total of 892 nurses who are presently serving  on contract basis, has been initiated.

He was speaking after inaugurating  the 21st State Level Nursing Conference and a Scientific Symposium  at the Town Hall here on January 31, Friday under the aegis of the Karnataka State Government Nurses Association.

The Minister further said of the 892 nurses whose services will be regularised, 146 work under  IPP and the rest 746 under state Grant.   Nearly 75 per cent of the people of the state relied on government hospitals for health services, he said and urged the nursing community to treat the patients with compassion.

 Referring to the various demands placed forth by the Nursing Association, he said the demand to increase the uniform allowance would be considered.

Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake launched the website of the Association. Local MLA Pramod Madhwaraj released ‘ Belaku’ a souvenir brought out on the occasion.  M Madangopal, Principal Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department,  VB Patil, Commissioner of Ayush Services,   CN Sumithra, Assistant Director of State Directorate of Medical Education, Kamala S Hugar, State President of  Government Nurses Association.  Subrahmanya Sheregar, Udupi District unit President and others were present.
