Karkala, july 13, 2014 : A sustained and inclusive growth that ensures social and economic equality is the need of the hour for India, said Magsaysay Award winning solar entrepreneur and advocator Dr Harish Hande.
He was speaking as a chief guest at the 15th Convocation of Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte on July 12, Saturday. Continuing, he said poverty in India can be eradicated once it is able to achieve sustained growth.
Exhorting to management graduates, Dr Hande said they should never forget whatever they have learnt in the institute.
India is in the 137th position in the world in Human Development Index. But we are happy about it as Pakistan is in the 138th position, he said amid laughter from students.
Dr. N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University presided over the function. Dr NK Tingalaya, Management Board President, HR Alva, Dr GV Joshi, Dr Srinivas Rai, Dr NS Shetty, Dr K Shankeran, Director of the Institute and others were present.
A total of 180 students received MBA degrees on the occasion, Amulya Anila Rao bagged the gold medal.
