Mangalore, June 30, 2014: A shocking case wherein doctors of a private nursing home in Mangalore who had performed hysterectomy on a woman of Madoor near Kotekar in 2010 had left surgical scissor in her abdomen, has come to light recently when the woman who had suffered much pain over the past four years, underwent a scanning.
The relatives of the woman named Hafza who rushed to the nursing home, took the doctors to task. It has been gathered that the doctors of Mangalore Nursing Home who had performed the surgery, have examined the scanning report, and have admitted their mistake. The woman is likely to be operated on June 30, Monday to remove the scissor.
It is said Dr Poornima Nair and Dr Rohit Gatti who had operated upon the woman named Aneesha initially tried to cover up the matter, but later admitted and said a single person cannot be blamed and that it was the responsibility of the entire surgery team.
As the family of the woman has lodged a complaint in the Kadri police station, the police have directed the hospital authorities to videograph the entire surgery and then submit a report. The further course of action would be decided upon viewing the surgery video, the police said.
In the meantime, State Health Minister UT Khader who has said he was shocked to know about the incident, has sought a report from the District Health Officer.
