Mangalore, Feb 21, 2014: Dinesh Holla, leader of Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya has warned that it would give a call for boycott of Lok Sabha polls in case the government goes ahead in implementing the controversial Yettinahole or Netravathi river diversion project.
Speaking to reporters on February 21, Friday, Holla said the Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya along with other like-minded organizations will even create an awareness among the masses through a door-to-door visit and would request the public to boycott the polls.
He alleged that Union Minister Veerappa Moily was moving heaven and earth to implement the project just to appease voters of his constituency Chikkaballapura. Even former CM DV Sadananda Gowda has cheated the people here by giving a green signal for the project during his chief ministership, he added and said this was one reason for his hesitation to contest from the district.
Holla was also critical of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for going back on his words given to the opponents of the project. This has given rise to the feeling that all politicians belong to the same tribe, he futher added.
He once again reiterated that the elections would be boycotted if the government does not shelve the destructive project immediately.
