Road hump at Kinnimulki proves fatal; woman loses life

Udupi, Jan 12, 2014: The humps constructed across the Balaipade Concrete Road at Kinnimulki were removed on January 11, Saturday after a woman lost her life in a two-wheeler mishap.
The mishap took place when the woman Chandrakala (44) of Katapady Mattu was pillion riding the bike of her son Santhan. The two were heading towards Udupi, when Santan who was riding at great speed bumped over the road hump unaware of its presence. Chandrakala who was thrown off guard, fell on the road. Though she was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Udupi, she breathed her last there due to grievous head injuries.
The three humps were constructed across the road to put a brake to the overspeeding vehicles which endangered pedestrians, in the absence of footpaths. The humps were laid just on January 10 night and the humps were removed soon after the mishap after public pressurised the authorities in this regard.
