Record rainfall in Kokkada - DK - Karnataka

Mangalore, May 23, 2014: News sources reported that rainfall recorded over the state is considered as scattered since 35% of the Hoblis and Grampanchayats got rainfall of less or equal to 2.5mm. The maximum temperature rose at few places over north interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state.

 

The minimum temperature fell at many places over north interior Karnataka; at a few places over coastal Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state. The SW monsoon is predicted in early June as per norms.

 Kokkada in Belthangady Taluk of Dakshina Kannada district received maximum rainfall of 78.5mm in the last 24 hours up to 8.30am on May 22. Athni Hobli in Belgaum district recorded the maximum temperature of 40.1°C and Napoklu Hobli in Kodagu district recorded the minimum temperature of 18.5°C over the state, according to KSNDMC bulletin.

Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 13% of geographical area in Karnataka State and more than 90% of relative humidity was recorded in 43% of geographical area in Karnataka state. As much as 79% of the geographical area in the state recorded maximum temperature in the range of 32°C to 38°C and maximum temperature in the range of 38°C to 40°C recorded in some parts of Belgaum, Raichur, Bidar, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Koppala districts. While minimum relative humidity was recorded in parts of Gulbarga,Raichur and Yadgir districts, maximum relative humidity was recorded in Belgaum, Gadag, Chamarajanagara, Koppala, Haveri, Dharwad, Shimoga, Hassan, Chikmagalur, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts.
