Pregnant lady dies in hospital - Maltreatment alleged

Udupi, 22, 2014:  Zohra, 27 yrs, hailing from Mallar, Udupi, eight months pregnant, staying with her husband and two year old son in Kunjila in Madikeri is said to have died. There is serious allegation from Zohra’s family that she died due to illtreatment by her husband Nissar, a daily wager and resident of Hoode.

 

They  married six years ago, intially lived in Belapu and settled in Madikeri in the last one year. On May 19, Mohideen, the father of Zohra was informed by Nissar, that Zorha has passed away due to high BP. Mohideen rushed to Madekeri and found that the body was all ready for immediate burial.

He raised objections and brought the body to  Udupi, Ajjarkadu government hospital for post mortem suspecting foul play. He also registered a complaint with Napoklu police.  Mohideen clarified that there were a lot of contentions between the couple over the years and much mediation was spent to patch up their married life, with little success.  Conflict was constant and suspicion was clear.

In the meanwhile,  the doctors apathy in Ajjarkadu government hospital who delayed the post mortem unusually and  kept the body in mortuary,  caused extreme grief and irritation to the kith and kin.  Madikeri police came to Udupi and briefed the doctors over the incident, the autopsy was done only late on Wednesday.
