Polali auto driver murder case : VHP sets 3 day deadline to nab killers

 Bantwal, Mar 22, 2014 :  He has also warned that a taluk bundh call would be given on March 25 if the police fail to arrest the culprits by then.


Bantwal murder.Rajesh, an autorickshaw driver  who hailed from Benjanapadavu  was alone at the autorickshaw stand when three unidentified assailants who arrived by a Pulsar bike with sharp weapons  attacked him. As Rajesh collapsed, they escaped from the scene.



A woman passerby who happened to notice Rajesh in a pool of blood had informed locals who had rushed him to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

It is believed that Rajesh, a member of a Hindu organisation was killed in an act of enmity over the murder of autorickshaw driver Iqbal in which  Rajesh was one of the main accused. The incident had taken place in February 2008 and  eight months ago all the accused including Rajesh had been absolved of murder charges.

There is information that an attempt had been made on the life of Rajesh on two occasions earlier.

It is learnt the police who have maintained a strict vigil in the area have formed two teams  from DCIB and Bantwal Crime Branch to nab the culprits. SP Dr Sharanappa is camping in Bantwal to ensure peace in the area.

On Friday, autorickshaw drivers of the area staged a black flag protest against the murder.
