Passenger lands in hospital after swallowing golden capsules

Mangalore, Feb 6, 2014 : A man from Kanhangad in Kasargod who swallowed as many as 25 capsules of gold, each weighing around 350 grams in a bid to avoid getting detected by customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport, though succeeded in his mission once he landed at the airport from a flight from Dubai, was in for trouble  very soon.

The capsules in his stomach  created abdominal problems and he had to get admitted to the hospital soon after he reached home. Doctors  who failed  to get the capsules ejected from the intestine, have asked him to undergo a surgery. The police and the customs officials  who too came to know about this have visited the hospital and a suo moto investigation has been taken up.

The man is also kept under surveillance.

The accused is Shashidharan who somehow wanted to evade customs officials at the airport and instead of swallowing two to three capsules, had swallowed   25 capsules. Though his plan was to take some laxative once he reached home, that was not to be as the golden capsules created trouble soon after.
