On May 21 the construction work was resumed after a break, the road was dug and carelessly loosely filled with mud. With the rain the region is experiencing, the loose uncompacted earth filling sunk as the vehicles passed on it, vehicles got stuck resulting in traffic chaos.

The morning peak time traffic faced a severe block extending  to many kilometers. Commuters were delayed misarably as traffic came to a stand still for hours.

A city bus, trying avoid the traffic jam, rammed into a shop while trying to negotiate the narrow one-way. Passengers in the bus were injured, and other vehicles too were trapped. The driver responsible went missing in fear.

Only the efforts of  Ullal police, public spirited people and home guards managed to clear the traffic after hours of misery.  Surely the concerned authorities can put in place a mechanism to prevent and control such situation which are a regular feature on many roads of the Mangalore area now. immediate action is a must.
