Mangalore, May 26, 2014 : Amrit Paul took charge as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Western Range on May 26, Monday. The new IGP was accorded a cordial welcome at the IGP office with a guard of honour.
Senior police officials including Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra and Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa were present.
The post of IGP was lying vacant since the transfer of the earlier incumbent Pratap Reddy. Mangalore Police Commissioner was the interim in-charge of the post so far as Seemanth Kumar Singh, ANF Commander though was given the additional charge, he did not assume the post.
An officer of the 1995 batch, Amrit Paul has earlier served as SP of Udupi district from 2000 to 2003. He began his service at Bhalki in Bidar in 1998 and has until now served the department in various capacities including Assistant IGP (Crime), SP of Bellary and DIG (Internal Secretary) in Bangalore.
