Nejaru murder case: Accused cited three motives for murder, says SP Dr Arun

Udupi, Nov 15, 2023: Udupi SP Dr K Arun has said that Praveen Arun Chaugale (39) who was detained in connection with the brutal murder of a woman and her three children at Nejaru last Sunday, has admitted the crime during questioning and has been arrested. The accused was arrested from Kudachi in Rayabaga taluk of Belagavi district.

 

Speaking to reporters at his office on November 15, Wednesday, the SP said based on technical and other evidence, it has been confirmed that Praveen was the killer and added that the weapon used in the crime is yet to be recovered.

The SP said the accused had been to the house at Nejar with the intention of targeting Ainaz who worked as an air hostess with Air India, but later also killed the mother and two other children who tried to prevent him. The SP said the accused worked as a cabin crew with Air India.

During questioning the accused had revealed three motives behind the murder, the SP said and added that the same would be confirmed after verification. He said the accused hailed from Sangli in Maharashtra and resided in Mangaluru since many years.
