Mangalore, Feb 22, 2014: In a case of moral policing reported from Mallamar Beach in Suratkal on February 21, Friday evening, a young man was brutally assaulted by activists of an organisation, reportedly for the reason that he was speaking to a young woman. The victim has been identified as Nisar (21) of Kulai.

Sources said Nisar who  was found in an unconscious state due to the brutal assault, is presently undergoing treatment at the ICU of a private hospital in the city. Nisar, was doing a computer course after completing lab technician course. Some people who saw him lying badly bruised at the beach immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot and later informed his family.

His family members said he had left home in the morning and were unaware of the reason of the assault. They also claimed that  Nisar had mentioned the name of one Vishu  at the hospital.

In the meantime, sources said Nisar was assaulted right in front of the police. In fact Vishu, is a member of Kodikere gang and was involved in criminal activities. Despite being aware of this the police are not initiating any action, a social activist has alleged.

Meanwhile, another round of argument was that Nisar was found misbehaving with a young woman at the beach and was therefore assaulted. There is also information that activists of an organisation had gathered outside the Suratkal police station till late night to pressurise to register a complaint as per their version.

Latest reports say police have taken four persons including Guruprasad, Hithesh, Shivaraj and a juvenile named Vicky into custody in connection with the case. All are said to be locals.
