Minister Priyank Kharge asks officials to be ready to tackle drought situation

Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2023: State Minister for Rural Development and Panchayatraj Priyank Kharge has directed officials to be prepared to face an impending drought and get ready with remedial measures. The minister’s directive came amid deficit rainfall in various parts of the state and in the district.

He was addressing a progress review meet held at the ZP auditorium here on Wednesday.

He directed the officials at the taluk level to also take steps at the earliest to ensure mitigation of water problem.

ZP CEO Dr Anand informed that there was water problem in 16 villages of Mangaluru, Bantwal and Mulki taluks.

The Minister informed the meeting that an audit is being undertaken through third party as per the suggestion of the CM, to gauge the progress of Jala Jeevan Mission.

MLCs Harish Kumar, Manjunatha Bhandari, Panchayat Raj Department Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Rural Drinking Water Supply Department Director Nagendra Prasad, Rural Development Department Commissioner Pavan Kumar and others were present.
