Mangalore, Feb 7, 2014: Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has informed that CCTV  will be installed at the Mangalore District Prison  very soon.


dcPresiding over a meeting of the Visitors Board of the District Prison on February 6, Thursday, the DC said  approval has also been secured to  put up a modern fencing around the  compound wall of the prison to ensure  better  security.

He said a sum of Rs 20 lakhs has been released for the construction of a compound wall.  He further instructed the PWD officials to asphalt the  jail compound and  also to strengthen security in the prisoners’ cells.

The Deputy Commissioner also issued suitable instructions to arrange for sufficient police escort to take the under trials to the court for hearing.  He said women police personnel should be deputed as escorts to female under trials.

Another directive given by the DC was to fill the vacant posts of medical officer and pharmacist in the prison  and also to have enough stock of necessary medicines in the prison.

R Hithendra, City Police Commissioner, Ramesh, Jail Superintendent, Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC Commissioner, Gopal Naik, PWD Executive Engineer and others were present.
