Man assaulted at Kumpala for opposing conversion attempt

Mangalore, May 17, 2014 :  A group of four  allegedly attacked a  man  near the Noorani Jumma Masjid at Kumpala on May 16, Friday. Sources say the foursome attacked Mohammad Saleem (42) after he reportedly resisted their attempts  of a forcible conversion.


Kumpala The incident took place  after the Friday prayers. The accused have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, Baban Nawaz, JK Shaukat and Ashrath Hussain.

It is learnt the accused were trying to forcefully convert people to their religion and had already succeeded a couple of times. On coming to know about their intentions, Saleem had opposed   and had even lodged a complaint against them in Ullal police station two months ago but of no avail.

 It is said on Friday there was a quarrel between Saleem and the four persons resulting in the assault. Saleem has been admitted to the hospital.
