Mangalore, Mar 22, 2014 : RTI activist P Haneef Saheb whose complaint resulted in a raid on the Manipal college of Dental Sciences and Hospital in Mangalore recently, has now unearthed two scams in which the MESCOM has been allegedly involved. The RTI activist has also furnished documents to substantiate his claims.
Addressing press persons at Press Club on March 22, Saturday, Haneef Saheb has now alleged that the MESCOM has not yet been able to initiate action against KMC which has been slapped a penalty of Rs 3.45 crores following a Vigilance Squad raid some time back. The raid was conducted after Haneef Saheb lodged a complaint and exposed the irregularities wherein the Manipal Dental College building was drawing power unauthorisedly from the main KMC Hospital building, as the former had not been granted electricity connection.
Haneef Saheb alleges that RTI queries have revealed that the fine amount has not yet been collected that the MESCOM has also allowed the KMC to move the court against the imposition of penalty and also to approach the CHESCOM if it had any objection regarding the fine amount levied.
In another revelation, the RTI activist alleged that most of the roof top mobile towers in the city have been unauthorisedly provided electricity connection by MESCOM though an RTI query revealed that no permission was granted to provide electricity connections to such mobile towers from 2010 to 2013.
