Mangalore, May 16, 2014: BJP candidates Nalin Kumar Kateel from Dakshina Kannada and Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituencies have registered an emphatic win in the Lok Sabha elections.
Incumbent Nalin Kumar Kateel defeated senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary by a margin of nearly 1.5 lakh votes. Nalin Kumar secured 6,42,739 votes while Poojari could secure only 4,99,030 votes. AAP candidate MR Vasudeva could manage to secure just 5442 votes while SDPI candidate Haneef Khan garnered 27254 votes.

This is the second successive win for Nalin Kumar Kateel and a major setback for the Congress veteran Poojary as this was his last chance to make it to the Lok Sabha.
In Udupi too it was an impressive win for BJP’s Shobha Karandlaje who garnered 5,81,168 votes as against 3,99,525 votes secured by Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde. Dhananjaya Kumar of JD(S) secured 14,895 votes while Gurudev SH of AAP managed to get only 6,049 votes and Vijykumar of CPI(M) 9,691 votes.
