Kundapur’s cobbler gets invite to watch next year’s Republic Day Parade in New Delhi

Kundapur, Oct 16, 2023: A cobbler from Kundapur has been invited to New Delhi to watch the Republic Day parade of next year. The invitation has come from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Manikanta who has been engaged in the profession of footwear and umbrella repair in his Lidkar shop near the Shastri Circle of Kundapur since the past two and a half decades has got this unique opportunity to watch the Republic Day parade.
Manikanta hails from Bhadravathi. His grandfather had come here about 50 years ago to start a footwear repair shop. Later Manikanta’s father was running the shop. However, when his father fell ill, Manikanta took the responsibility of running the shop.
He is extremely happy over the invitation extended to him to witness the R-Day parade.
