Kundapur, November 29, 2023: The clerk of the Kundapur Forest Department was caught red-handed by Lokayukta personnel on Wednesday, November 29th, while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.

B. Manjunath Poojari, a clerk in the office of the Deputy Conservator of Forests in Kundapur, was detained for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 for the release of a vehicle belonging to Aditya of Alur, which was under the custody of the Forest Department.

When Aditya refused to pay the bribe, he reported the matter to the Udupi Lokayukta police. Acting on this information, the Lokayukta police, under the leadership of DSP K.C. Prakash, and officers including Manjunath, Rafeeq, and team members Nagendra Udupi, Nagaraj, Raghavendra, Rohith, Prasanna Devadiga, Abdul Jalal, Ravindra Ganniga, Ramesh, Suraj, and Sudhir, conducted a raid and arrested Manjunath Poojari while he was accepting the bribe.
