Kundapur: Agonised over father’s suicide, son jumps into well

Kundapur, Dec 20, 2013: In a tragic case, a young man who was aggrieved over the suicide of his ailing father, ended his life by jumping into a well near his house at Sulse in Hemmadi village on December 19, Thursday.

The deceased are Krishna Mogaveera (73) and his 28 year old son Sukhesh. It is learnt, Krishna Mogaveera who was suffering from stomach pain since some time was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Kundapur.  Though he was supposed to be discharged on December 18, Wednesday, he went missing from the hospital.The family lodged a police complaint after a futile search for him.  Mogaveera was later found  dead near the Hemmadi Janatha High School. It is suspected that he consumed some pesticide.

Unable to bear the agony, Sukesh jumped into the well even as arrangements were underway for the last rites of his father.  Though many had gathered in the house they could not rescue Sukesh from the over 60 foot deep well.

The Kundapur fire service personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the well.
