Mangalore, June 5, 2014 : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has informed that a Pilot Project to check sea erosion and loss of property is ready. He said the project would be implemented with ADB aid once all arrangements for the same are complete.
The minister was addressing a meeting convened at Ullal TMC meeting hall on June 3, Wednesday to discuss ways and means to protect the coastal belt from sea erosion.
Continuing, the minister said measures have already been initiated to protect the Ullal Coast. A sum of Rs 223 and Rs 26 crores have been earmarked to check sea erosion in Ullal and Uchila areas respectively, he added.
The Minister further said as of now, the government will initiate immediate measures to take up temporary sea erosion prevention works.
He said there is a plan to set up a 30 bed hospital which offers treatment in Ayurvedic and Unani system too.
He also directed the authorities to convene peace meetings every month. Khader further asked the authorities to check the speed limit of vehicles proceeding from Tokkottu, Kallaup, Kotekar Beeri, KC Road and other areas.
Khader told Inspector Dharmendra who was present at the meeting to prepare a list of innocents who were imprisoned in the Ullal untoward incident case.
