Udupi, April 5, 2015: Speaking at a function to distribute benefits under various development schemes to the beneficiaries at Uliyargoli gram panchayat,  Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said a Rs 200 crore action plan would be put together for the development of Kaup in this fiscal year.


vinaya sorakeHe added that the notification has been released for the up-gradation of the Kaup assembly constituency into town Municipal Corporation. Rs 52 crore valued proposal is approved to purify water from Manipur gram panchayat and supply the purified water to the people in Kaup area. The minister said the government has also approved Rs 31 crore project for the purification of sewage water and UGD programme in the area, he added.

The tender process is pending for the project worth Rs 83 crore. The urban development department is directed to initiate Planning Authority and to chalk out master plan to develop the area following which permanent measures would be introduced.

Assuring Rs 20 crore allotments for Kaup assembly constituency following revision, the minister said the amount would be used for developing roads and connective paths. He said the University center would come up at Belapu at the cost of Rs 123 crore. As many as 68 acres of land is identified for industrial zones. He said the expert opinion and guidance is sought to upgrade the Kaup lighthouse and a plan would be drawn up for this.

Impetus would be given to augment the tourism activities in Kaup, the minister said Rs 3 crore would be invested to set up the stadium. Also Rs 2 crore would be released to develop the Kaup government hospital. The minister said at least 270 applications are received under section 94C of Land Reform Act. The applications are under scrutiny and applicants would be offered title deeds in another 10 days where eligible.

Stating that panchayat level meets are set be in touch with the problems of the people, the minister assured that rice would be given free of cost to the BPL card holders and APL card holders would also receive rice at cheaper
