Kaup, May 25, 2014: Former Karnataka Lokayukta and former Supreme Court judge Justice Santosh Hegde has said that AAP Chief Aravind Kejriwal took a wrong decision by denying to provide a surety bond as directed by the Court in connection with the case filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kaup Mahadevi High School on May 24, Saturday, he said Kejriwal is behaving as if he had no knowledge about law. He has landed in trouble owing to his own mistakes, and it is advisable that he behaves sensibly in the days to come .”Let him provide a surety bond as asked by the court and then let him continue his fight,” Justice Hegde said.
Commenting on the weak Lokayukta system in Karnataka, he said the government is interested in bringing about a law which does not empower Lokayukta with suo moto powers. This has given rise to fear of closure of this institution, he said.
When asked if he would join politics, Justice Santosh Hegde questioned ‘Who would speak about irregularities if everyone joins politics?” My aim is to expose misrule, irregularities and corruption by remaining out of politics,” he said.
