Karkala : Cops unearth cattle smuggling racket; arrest 2

Karkala,Feb 6, 2014 :  Police have arrested two persons on the charges of smuggling cattle from Kaikamba and other areas in Ajekar police station limits, and transporting them to butcheries in Mangalore. As many as 13 cattle have been seized on February 5, Wednesday morning.

The police led  by Ajekar inspector DN Kumar raided the place at around 4 am when a six member gang was forcibly cramming the cattle in a tempo. The police managed to arrest two persons while the other four escaped.

Those arrested are Imran (25) of Bajpe and Ajmal alias Mohammad Ismail (21)  from Todar. There is information that two more who had arrived to get them released, have also been taken into custody.

The arrest of the accused have exposed the mystery behind the missing of several cattle from cattle sheds in the area in the recent past.
