Information Dept to hold Sound and Light Show on Feb 7

 Mangalore, Feb 6, 2014 :  A special Sound and Light  show  conveying the message that there is only one caste and that is Humanity, will be organised at Nehru Maidan in the city on February 7 at 7 pm.

 

The  show is based on the famous verse of Adi Kavi Pampa which says ‘Manushya Jathi Thanonde Valam’  and will be held under the aegis of the District Information Department under its  special component programme for Scheduled Caste and Tribal Sub Plan.

The above information  was  provided to reporters here on February 5, Wednesday by B A Khader Shah, District Information Officer. He said the main objective of the programme was to  help eradicate the caste system in the society. He informed that as many as 150 artistes  belonging to SC/ST category will be part of the show which will be directed by C Basavalingaiah, an eminent theatre director.

He said the first such show was inaugurated by CM Siddaramaiah in  Bangalore recently. The Department also plans to hold similar shows at various places  across the state including Udupi, Karwar, Chikmagalur, Mysore, Madikeri and Belgaum.
