Ice plant issue hots up; Now, JD(S) men picket MCC office

Mangalore, June 12, 2014:  The issue of the proposed ice plant at Kandak in Mangalore   has hotted up with even the JD(S) resorting to a protest on June 11, Wednesday. But the protest was not against the setting up of the plant, but against the allegations hurled against the party corporator Abdul Azeez in connection with the case.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It may be mentioned here that the Additional District Town Planning Officer had earlier alleged that the protest launched by Kandak residents on June 10, Tuesday, against the setting up of the ice plant was instigated by the corporator.

The JD(S) men complained of inaction against the officer and accused the MCC of not responding to the demands of the people of the region. They even tried to enter the MCC building but wee prevented by the police.

 JD(S) member SP Chengappa said the protest was against the corrupt officer and demanded that such officers must be sacked.

The protestors even demanded that the MC Commissioner met them. Ajith Kumar Hegde, the Commissioner finally arrived and accepted the memorandum and assured to   look into the case and take a suitable decision.

 JD(S) leaders J Mohammad, A Vasanth Poojari, Srinath Rai, Akshith Suvarna, Corporator Abdul Azeez and others were part of the protest.
