Gold smuggling: Gold worth Rs. 13,72,000 seized in Mangalore Intl Airport

Mangalore, April 13, 2014: The Customs officials seize gold totally weighing 466.650 grams in two separate cases valued at Rs.13,71,951/-. at Mangalore International Airport on April 13, 2014. 

In the first case, the officers seized 02(Two) gold wires, totally weighing 233.550 grams and valued at Rs.6,86,637/- concealed in the form of beadings around a brown coloured stroller suitcase, brought as checked in baggage from the possession of a passenger named Kappanakkal Muhammed Anvar, aged about 27 Years, son Of Muhammed Kappanakkal, residing at door No 5/342, Kappanakal House, Bekal Po, Kasaragod  Pin:671318, Kerala and arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 13.04.2014 at about 0200 hrs by Air India Express flight No.IX384 from Dubai.

 

 

In the second case, the officers seized one gold strip concealed in a measuring tape and 44(Forty four)  gold buckles, concealed in footwear and ladies brassieres totally weighing 233.100 grams and valued at Rs.6,85,314/-, kept in a carton box brought as checked in baggage from the possession of a passenger named Shri.Aboobacker Siddeeque Bennamgala, aged about 27 years, son of Pallikunhi Nakkara Abdulla,  residing at Bennamgalakunnil House, Po.Kumbla, Arikkady Kunnil, Kasaragod Dist, Kerala-671321 and arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 13.04.2014 at about 0440 hrs by Air India Express flight IX814 from Dubai.

Operations were conducted under the supervision of Shri. Hemen Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport by a team lead by Shri.B.Prabhakara Poojary, Superintendent along with Superintendents Sendhil Murugan, B.A.Kariappa, H.G.Yogesh and Inspectors G.Kumaraswamy, S.Ranjan Behera, Santosh Kumar and Ankit Kumar and Havaldars Varadaraju and Sowmya Naik.
