Gold in honey : Passenger arrested for smuggling

Kasargod, July 1, 2014 :  Customs officials at the Kozhikode Airport have seized  680 grams of gold worth around Rs 20.5 lakhs which was being smuggled  inside honey. A passenger from Ichlangod Beerolike named Abdul Samad Mohammadali (21) has been arrested.

He had arrived at the Karippur Airport from Sharjah on June 29, Sunday. On inspection, the officials found a bottle of honey  which had fruit pieces and gold powder and biscuits in it.

This is for the first time that gold was being smuggled by concealing it in honey.
