Fun turns tragic: 4 boys meet watery grave at Panambur

Mangalore, May 16, 2014:  Four little boys who ventured into the seas at Koorikatta near Baikampady to enjoy the day by playing in the waters, have drowned on May 16, Friday.

It is learnt, a total of five boys, all children of labourers from north Karnataka had been to the sea shore to make merry when tragedy struck.

Four of them namely Girish (7), Naveen (8), both brothers, Neelappa (9) and Chidananda (9), all local residents drowned, while another boy  named Manjunath who was with them was rescued by locals.

All the five were students of a local government school. Their parents who rushed to the spot on coming to know about the tragedy were inconsolable.  Chidananda was the son of Jamanna from Badami while  Neelappa was the son of Jinjappa.  Girish and Naveen were children of Tirukappa who hailed from HAveri.

Panambur police have registered a case.
