Mangalore, April 3, 2014: The inspection of expenditure and accounts of candidates contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada Parliamentary constituency was done on April 2, Wednesday. Krishna Prasad, Assistant Expenditure Observer though said there were a few discrepancies none disputed the same.
Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer AB Ibrahim who spoke to press persons on Wednesday, informed that as many as 1105 postal ballot papers for service voters including armed forces have been dispatched. Even the Electronic Voting Machine randomisation was done in the presence of election observers, candidates and representatives of political parties.
Training programmes for presiding officers and polling personnel were also conducted in eight centres and was participated by 4000 personnel , the DC informed.
Five complaints: The DC also informed that five complaints regarding violation of election code of conduct were registered since Monday. One of the complaints said the authority of SCDCC Bank President during Ugadi Festival was misused by making a promise to provide loans through mobile banking units.
Scribes’ plea: The DK Working Journalists’ Union submitted a memorandum to the DC urging to provide postal ballots or Election Duty Certificate to working journalists during elections.
