Ex-Goa CM Luizinho Faleiro hits out at Gujarat model of development

Mangalore, Apr 14, 2014: Congress leader and former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro  has said that the Dakshina Kannada district can  witness furthermore development if the people here elected   Congress candidate B Janardhana Poojari.

 

 

 

 

Speaking at the party’s Election Office in Mangalore on April 14, Monday after paying tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi,  Faleiro said a honest and disciplined political leader like Poojary  who has strived hard for the upliftment of the poor during his term as union minister can effectively highlight the problems of the region in the Parliament.

Coming down heavily on the BJP’s tall claims on Gujarat model of development, Faleiro said  Mangalore has progressed much better than Gujarat and added Gujarat  was backward in health sector, education as well as farming sectors. Except contributing to the growth of industries, there has been not much of a progress in Gujarat as claimed, Faleiro said.

Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister also addressed the gathering  and said the major infrastructures which the district presently boasts of were all developed during the Congress rule. He also urged the people to support Poojary in the upcoming elections.

JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, Legislators. Ibrahim Kodijal, Interim President of District Congress, Ivan D’Souza, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Congress spokespersons, AC Bhandari and Suresh Ballal, Congress leaders were also present.
