Endosulfan victims to get monthly pension through Revenue Dept

Mangalore, May 10, 2014 :  N Shivashailam, Secretary of the State Health and Family Welfare Department has informed that Endosulfan affected people will henceforth get their  monthly pension through the Revenue Department instead of Health Department.

 

He was participating in a progress review meet on rehabilitation of Endosulfan victims held at the DC office on May 9, Friday. Shivashailam also informed that all possible measures would be taken to provide pension regularly to the victims.

On this occasion he also opined that it would be wise to spend more on the better health of the Endosulfan affected people instead of offering compensation to the families of those victims who die.

He directed the authorities concerned to equip the rehabilitation centres of Endosulfan victims with all  basic facilities and also to ensure the safety of the  disabled girl children.

A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shivakumar, DK District Health and Family Welfare Officer,   Dr Ramachandra Bairi, Udupi District Health and Family Welfare Officer, Dr Ravindranath Shanbhag and others were present.
