Mangalore, Feb 20, 2014 : Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Tulasi Maddineni has informed that a meeting of all Gram Panchayat Secretaries and Panchayat Development Officers will be held very soon to end the confusion that prevailed over the implementation of the Rajeev Gandhi Housing Scheme.
She said so while responding to several queries of members on the issue at the 16th General Meeting of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat held here on February 19, Wednesday.
Member Satish Kumpala informed that confusion persisted among beneficiaries of the scheme and complained that officials had no satisfactory reply. Though it was decided at the previous meeting that the taluk panchayat nodal officials will visit Gram Panchayats, so far no measures have been taken in this direction, he complained.
ZP Chief Koragappa Naik said he was aware that even taluk level officials have given vague replies when questioned and said PDOs who fail to discharge their duties will face suspension.
ZP Chief Executive Officer informed that steps would be taken to solve the problem by February 28.
Another member Eshwar Kateel drew the attention of the authorities towards the fact that six shops were functioning unauthorisedly in Kateel area. The ZP Chief said that the authorities will look into the matter. Eshwar Kateel also stressed the need for maintaining cleanliness in a pilgrim town like Kateel which sees a heavy inflow of devotees.
