Mangaluru, Feb 04, 2023: Dr Vikram Amathe took charge as the new Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district on February 4, Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, the new SP said community policing would be given priority. He further added that all measures would be taken to maintain law and order by keeping an eye on anti-social elements and rowdy sheeters and to ensure there is no repeat offence.
He said measures would also be taken to offer counselling to habitual traffic offenders. In order to prevent rumour mongering through social media, a social media monitoring cell will be set up in Puttur and Bantwal sub-divisions, he added.
He further added that priority would be given to beat system in rural areas.
Vikram Amathe who is from Belagavi is a 2012 batch IPS officer. He has earlier served as DCP in Mysuru and Bellary and as Additional SP in Chamarajnagar, Dakshina Kannada during Lok Sabha election.
He is a veterinary doctor by profession and has worked in that capacity for four years. He even has served SBI as a technical officer.
