Kaup, Feb 20, 2014 : Dr B. R. Shetty, NRI entrepreneur has said that talks have been held with Bahrain Chamber and businessmen from Abu Dhabi and Bahrain with regard to exporting farm produce from the coastal districts to Gulf nations.
They have agreed to invest 50 billion dollars in the project which will offer direct international market for the farm produce from rural area.
Speaking after visiting Belapu Gram Panchayat, Dr BR Shetty said talks have been held with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and that he has assured to implement the programme from the coastal district itself.
Shetty said the proposed scheme would help domestic growers who are at a loss as they are not being able to get good price for their produce.
Shetty said he was determined to contribute something for his hometown and added he also wished to develop his hometown Kaup into a model town. He said he has sought the help of Urban Development Minister and Kaup MLA Vinaykumar Sorake who has assured full co-operation. Kaup will be developed as a model city as well as garden city, Shetty informed.
Deviprasad Shetty, former president of Belapu Gram Panchayat, Prakash Rao, in-charge president, Niranjan Shetty, former vice president and others were present.
Deviprasad Shetty on this occasion urged Dr BR Shetty to open an higher education institution in the town.
