Mangalore, Jan 13, 2014: District Congress will plan constituency level counter meetings to solve the rage within the party over RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s hate speech and governmental failure of taking action against him.


Speaking at the press meet held at District Congress Office on Jan 13, Monday, party district in-charge president Kodijal Ibrahim said that RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat has hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims and Christians through his hate speech at a Hindu convention at Gurupur.

He also said that Bhat has brought dishonor to Hindu community and culture. The district congress has urged chief minister Siddarmaiah and home minister KJ George to take action against him, he said.


Ibrahim said that the Congress party has planned a series of constituency level awareness meetings to defy the hate propaganda of communal organizations in the district. Apart from it, the pro-people programmes introduced by state and central governments will also be highlighted.


He also said that the Congress party which organized a protest meet to condemn Bhat’s hate speech on Sunday had witnessed turmoil with party workers. The workers had even raised slogans against veteran leader B Janardhan Poojary and the government along with raising slogan against Bhat and his arrest.


Speaking about the scheduled public meetings, he said that meetings will be held at Puttur and Mangalore constituencies on Monday January 20, Moodbidri and Bantwal on Tuesday January 21, Sullia on Wednesday Jan 22, Mangalore South on Sunday Jan 26 and Belthangady constituency on Monday January 27.


Leaders Masood, Nagendra, Ivan D’Souza, Suresh Ballal and others were present.
