Addressing a meeting of builders, civil engineers and health officials of MCC here on June 6, Thursday,  the DC said the district administration has taken serious cognizance of the fact that the labourers working in construction sites have not been provided basic amenities.

The MCC health division has already surveyed around 383 sites and has found that in most places cleanliness aspect has been neglected.

Expressing his displeasure over the neglect of the cleanliness aspect by builders he warned of stern action.  He said the survey by MCC health division has revealed that 13 sites have been found  to be breeding ground for mosquitoes.

When builders argued that the Malaria cases were on the  rise due to rains, the  DC said the need of the hour was to protect the interests of labourers instead of giving excuses.

The District administration will discharge its duties and even the builders will have to ensure basic amenities to labourers, he said.

He said the MCC is accepting complaints from public regarding blocking of side drains by dumping wastes and construction materials. Already such dumped materials are being removed by MCC vehicles while the expenses will have to be borne by the builders concerned, the DC said and warned that builders will face cancellation of license if such works continued.

Srikanth Rao, in-charge Commissioner of MCC, Balakrishna, Deputy Commissioner (Development) of MCC were also present.
