angalore, June 3, 2014 : Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has directed the Tourism Department officials to bring out a booklet giving comprehensive details of tourist spots and tourist map of Dakshina Kannada district. He said such a measure is a must to promote tourism and develop the district into a major tourist attraction.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the District Tourism Development Committee Meeting held at his office on June 2, Monday. He aksed the officials to take up the works of developing the tourism potential of the already identified spots.
Jithendranath, Assistant director of the Department of Tourism informed that grants have been already released to bring out a booklet and added some model booklets and handouts have been submitted by creative firms which have been asked to do so. The DC directed the officials to choose the best and attractive hand-out and publish the same.
Yatish Baikampady of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project said there is a proposal to install a huge statue of a Yakshagana character at the entrance of Panambur beach.
The DC directed the transport officials to permit city buses heading towards Suratkal to drop passengers upto Panambur beach.
Responding to the same, RTO Afzal Ahmed Khan said already four new buses have been given permit on the route and they will proceed towards Suratkal via Panambur beach road.
He also informed that all existing buses on the route have been asked to pass through the beach road itself and that the bus operators have sought time to adhere to the directive.
