DC acts tough on sand transportation lorries at B.C.Road

Bantwal, July 10, 2014:   Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who had been to B.C.Road on July 9, Wednesday to  look into the traffic problem of the area, on noticing the lined up sand lorries, stood right on the road and seized as many as 33 lorries  on suspicion that they were transporting sand unauthorisedly. The vehicles  were later handed over to Bantwal Tahsildar.

If as many as 15 lorries were seized  at the directive of the DC, the rest 18 lorries were seized by a team of officials led by Bantwal Tahsildar Malleswamy.

SP Dr Sharanappa, RTO Ajmal Ahmed Khan, Mines Officer  Nagendra, Bantwal Circle Inspector Belliappa and SI Nandakumar  assisted in the operations.

Tahsildar Malleswamy has informed that  of the 33  lorries seized, 20 had sand transportation permits while the rest  were carrying sand over and above the prescribed limit.  It is learnt, the sand was being transported from Adyar, Adoor, Farangipete and other places.
