D K District Police inaugurates annual sports meet

Mangalore, Dec 19, 2013: The D K District Police in association with Mangalore City Police organized annual sports meet at the police parade grounds on December 19, Thursday.

City police commissioner R Hitendra and Karnataka Bank former Chairman Ananth Krishna Bhat inaugurated the sports meet by releasing balloons in the air.

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Ananth Krishna said that Mangalore is known as the educational hub and the presence of anti social elements in the society has also defamed the city. In such instances police play significant role in curbing such activities, hence they need to remain physically fit and actively participating in such sports is good exercise. 

Further too such sports meet must be organized for the police personnels to relive their professional stress, he added.

Around five teams from Mangalore, Panambur, Puttur, District Armed Reserve Police team and women’s police team participated in the sports meet.

Events such as running race, long jump, high jump, discus throw, shot put, triple jump, javelin throw were conducted. 

Additional SP Shivakumar welcomed the guests and gathering. DCP CAR Tara Shetty proposed vote of thanks. 

DCP Law Jagadish and DCP Crime Dharmaiah were also present.
