Corporator Azeez protests during MCC meet

Mangalore, July 1, 2014: Corporator Azeez Kudroli staged a protest during the MCC meeting held on June 30, Monday alleging that he was falsely implicated and arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by MCC officials.

The corporator who was protesting by covering his mouth with a black scarf, removed it and said so when asked by the Mayor and other officials present.

It may be recalled here that Azeez was arrested on June 21 after the MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde complained against him alleging that the former had threatened him and even instigated the residents of Kandak area to protest against the proposed ice plant in the area.Azeez was released two days later.

Confusion prevailed at the meeting when some corporators chose to support Azeez and a few others backed the MCC commissioner.

Mayor Mahabala Maarla said he was not present when the incident took place and came to know about it later. Azeez later withdrew his protest after the Mayor assured that he would request the officials who complained against him to withdraw the complaint.

Deputy Mayor Kavitha, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others were present.
