Cattle smuggling vehicle seized after it runs amok at Bejai

Mangalore, July 12, 2014 : A  tempo  with as many as 32 cows crammed inside it in the most inhuman fashion,  which rammed into an autorickshaw, a car and an electric pole,  was seized by the police  at Bejai in the city on July 12, Saturday morning .  But all the men inside the vehicle as well as some bikes which were escorts to the vehicle, managed to escape even as public tried to trap them.

 

 

It is learnt, the A 407 tempo was speeding in order to head towards its destination at the earliest. But to the misfortune of those inside, the vehicle first hit an autorickshaw near the KSRTC bus stand and then a Ford Figo car at Bejai. It finally hit an electric pole before  stopping. As people gathered, the culprits managed to flee.

The police later seized the vehicle along with the cattle. The condition of several cows is said to be critical.
