BJP fields Shobha from Udupi; DVS to contest from Mysore

Bangalore, Feb 21, 2014 : Finally, the BJP has decided to field former minister Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi Chikmagalur LS constituency, while former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda will be contesting from Mysore.

Both of them had earlier been strong contenders from Bangalore North which is a Vokkaliga dominated constituency.  R Ashok will now be the party candidate from here.

The decision  was taken at the BJP core committee meeting held at the residence of R Ashok on February 20, Thursday. Now it would be  sitting MP Jayaprakash Hegde of the Congress v/s Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi constituency.

In fact this constituency was represented by DV Sadananda Gowda  before he  became the  chief minister during the BJP regime. In the bye-elections held later on Jayaprakash Hegde had won against Sunil Kumar of BJP.
