Anti-Modi MMS : Cops arrest Bhatkal AAP member, release 4 others

Bhatkal, May 26, 2014 : The Bangalore police who on May 24, Saturday night detained five youth of Bhatkal for   forwarding an anti-Narendra Modi MMS, released four of them on Sunday after grilling them. However, one of them, said to be an  AAP member has been arrested and reportedly taken to Khanapur in Belgaum for further questioning.

The action followed a complaint from a BJP supporter who received the MMS.  Though police have not revealed anything about the content of the MMS, reportedly it shows a morphed image of Modi on a pyre with a caption  that made a mockery of the BJP’s slogan ‘Ab ki baar Modi Sarkar.’

It is learnt, the five were detained by the Bangalore CCB police in civilian dress. The accused are AAP member Waqas Barmavar, Rahmatulla Maliki, Usama Alangar, Musaib Saada, and Saad Kola. It is said Saad and Musaib were CA students while the other three are doing their MBA internship in Bangalore.

Of them Waqas has been arrested and taken to Khanapur. His arrest has angered the AAP activists who have threatened to hold protests. The Bhatkal unit of AAP has said it will hold protests until its member was released. The AAP argues that the arrest was a violation of freedom of speech and expression.
