Bengaluru, Nov 16, 2023: According to reports, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Shetty are scheduled to attend a Kambala event in Bengaluru.

The event is being held in Bengaluru for the first time. Celebrities like Aishwarya and Shetty are reported to be in attendance at the event, among other famous names, as announced by the organising president, Umesh Shetty.

 

The Kambala event is scheduled to take place on November 25 and 26, on the city’s palace grounds. According to the organisers, a crowd of three to five lakh is expected to attend the event in the two days. The Bengaluru Kambala Committee is busy with the preparations for the event where more than 125 pairs of buffalos are reported to be participating. The president of the Bengaluru Kambala Committee and Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai revealed that 116 Kambala buffalo owners have already registered to participate in the sport.

Ashok Kumar Rai said, “Over eight lakh people are expected to shop at the event. Buffalo owners will be paid Rs 50,000 to transport buffaloes from their district to Bengaluru.”

The Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has granted Rs 1 crore to host the Kambala event in Bengaluru. It is going to be held on 70-acre land, according to reports. The race track is reported to be around 155 meters long.

More celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Sunil Shetty and KL Rahul are also expected to be present at the event. A theme song for the event was also released on Sunday called Bengaluru Kambal-Namma Kambala, which was composed by Gurukiran and penned by V Manohar.

Kambala is a popular buffalo race sport which is held annually in the state of Karnataka. The race track is a muddy paddy field, on which buffaloes are made to run by farmers wielding whips.
