Bantwal, June 11, 2014 : A police team led by Bantwal Rural SI Nagaraj and Vittal in-charge SI Sanjeeva Tallur has succeeded in apprehending two persons including the prime accused in the case of abduction of a minor girl  from Nadayi in Sarapady village of the taluk.

minor The duo was arrested  near the Bijapur bus stand on June 9, Monday morning. They have been produced before the court and remanded to one day judicial custody.

The police are likely to seek their custody for higher interrogation. The arrested persons are Ashok (32) from Bijjaragi in Bijapur, the prime accused and Ravi alias Narasimha (40), his friend. The girl’s aunt Savitha and Basavaraju, the uncle of Ashok are already in judicial custody.

The 15 year old girl, a Class X student of Navoor School was missing since March 17 after  she was reportedly taken in a car by her aunt Savitha to purchase a new pair of slippers. Much rumour was doing the rounds in this case and the police had to rattle their brains to nab the accused. It was also said that the missing girl was friendly with Ashok who was a grape trader. Sources said a wrong phone call  led to a friendship between the two.

The girl was eventually traced at Kompala Athani near  Belgaum and is now in remand home. Though it is said she had  left home with the accused on her own,  her being a minor has  resulted in the registration of an abduction case.
