3 nabbed for murdering Congressman through deliberate road accident

Mangalore, May 22, 2014: Panambur police have arrested three persons on the charges of murdering fishermen leader and senior Congressman Gangadhar Pangala by causing an accident.

The arrested are Pushparaj, the owner of the Bolero vehicle which knocked down Gangadhar who was riding a two-wheeler, Harish Baikampady and Bhasker Baikampady. They have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.Police are on the lookout for another accused named Satish Baikampady who is at large.

The incident had occurred past midnight on May 14 when Gangadhar Pangala was passing through Meenakaliya Koorikatta road which is just three fourth km away from his house. A Bolero vehicle had knocked down Gangadhar killing him on the spot. Though it was initially suspected that this was a case of accident, later it came to light that it was a deliberate accident aimed at killing Gangadhar.

A previous enmity and an internal strife in Mogaveera Mahasabha had culminated in the murder, police sources said.
