2 arrested for damaging Rahul banners; Congress protest rally on Dec 22

Mangalore, Dec 20, 2013: Two persons have been apprehended by the Bajpe police on the charges of damaging the banners displaying images of Congress leaders including Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

The banner put up in front of the Chellechar School in Edapadavu and Perar were found torn on December 7 and 8. The same were put-up by Congress leader Vijaynath Shetty and were titled ‘Namma Rahul Gandhi.’

The arrested duo are Praveen (24) and Appu alias Chethan (28) of Edapadavu. They have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

The complaint was earlier lodged by Prithviraj RK, Gurupur Block Congress President.

Protest on Dec 22: Meanwhile, the Congress has decided to hold a protest rally from Mijar Bolechar to Kaikamba on December 22 to condemn the damages caused to the banners. The rally will be flagged off by senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojari. A memorandum too would be submitted to the authorities.
