’Desperate’ BJP indulging in smear campaign against Congress, alleges Rai

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Apr 3, 2014: The BJP is resorting to a smear campaign against the Congress out of desperation as various survey reports have predicted a win for the Congress in highest number of  seats, said DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai.

Addressing press persons at the Congress Election office in the city on April 3, Thursday, Rai also charged the BJP of spreading false rumours  blaming the Congress for the recent disturbance during an interaction programme organised in the city by a state level private news channel. The Congress is targeted by the BJP even in social networking sites, Rai alleged.

He also launched a tirade against BJP National Secretary Ananth Kumar for asking him to take political sanyas and added Ananth Kumar has no moral right to make such a demand. Commenting on the BJP criticism against him for ‘sleeping’ during Assembly sessions, Rai said “ I might have slept, but have not watched blue films like BJP ministers.”

Rai was a bit hesitant to reply to queries about his challenge posed to Nalin Kumar on the latter’s ‘silence’ in Parliament.  Rai said he made such an allegation based on media reports as he had never seen reports about Nalin’s participation in parliament discussions and debates.

He also  urged the voters to elect Congress candidate Janardhana Poojary who is a leader with  a clean image.

Congress leaders including  Ibrahim Kodijal, District Congress Interim President, Mahabala Maarla, Mayor, Moidin Bava, MLA, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Ivan D’Souza, MLAs were also present at the press meet.
